Give schools a choice! HSI-UK, alongside 12 other British organizations, have co-signed a PETA UK letter to the British government, urging them to revisit the School Food Standards and replace the mandatory servings of meat, fish, and dairy with nutritional guidelines.

This will not only allow for more flexible menus but also provide schools with an opportunity to serve meals that are healthier and kinder to animals and the planet.

The campaign is supported by Sir Paul McCartney, Mary and Stella McCartney, and his organisation Meat Free Monday, various MPs, and environmental, health, and animal protection groups. “No one needs to eat meat, so it shouldn’t be mandatory to serve it in schools. It’s time to revise the School Food Standards to help the planet, spare animals, and promote healthy eating”, Sir Paul McCartney said.

Please sign on to the PETA UK letter, asking the secretary of state for education to remove mandatory servings of meat, fish, and dairy from the School Food Standards. https://www.peta.org.uk/blog/paul-mccartney-peta-school-food-reform/
