The association, which includes university, school and hospital caterers, has committed to reducing meat consumption across all sectors by 20%. This will remove 9m kg of meat from menus and will save the lives of 45,000 cows or 16 million chickens. It will also lessen their carbon footprint to the equivalent of 128,000 fewer cars on the road per year.
